Sergey Dorofeev, Partner, Russian and Eurasian Patent attorney, Gorodissky & Partners, Moscow, gave a presentation on “Drafting and construing patent claims in Russia” at joint AIPPI Russia/AIPPI Japan IP seminar. Boris Simonov, Head, Russian PTO, Alexander Grigiriev, President, Eurasian Patent Office, Elena Utkina, Deputy Director, Board of Examiners, Russian PTO, Alexey Zalesov, Secretary,Russian National AIPPI Group were among the speakers. The Seminar gathered over 120 attendees form major Japanese industrial companies and IP law firms.

Vladimir Mescheriakov, Counsel, Gorodissky & Partners, Moscow, together with a group of patent attorneys from Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan paid a visit to OHIM to get acquainted with its practice on trademark and design cases. In Madrid international IP law firm Hammonds held a reception for the group.

A number of topical issues, such as creating and launching a new pharmaceutical brand, maintaining value in established and famous brands, opportunities for using non-traditional trade marks in the pharmaceutical industry, etc. were in the focus of discussion.

Gorodissky & Partners were among the exhibitors of the VIII Moscow International Salon of Innovations and Investments held at the Russian Exhibition Center. Many exhibitors and visitors of the Salon attended the firm’s Information Center where attorneys and lawyers of Gorodissky & Partners counseled on IP legislation issues and enforcement practice thereof including particular cases.
The traditional firm’s contest “The Best Trademark of the Salon” gathered more than 60 participants this year. The winners were awarded with Diplomas and Certificates of Gorodissky & Partners.

The issues of commercialization of intellectual property, including methods of IP valuation and due diligence were in the focus of discussion.

Annual Meeting of Directors of Gorodissky & Partners branch offices was held in the Moscow office of the firm. Business results of 2007 and perspectives for the next year were in the focus of discussion. It was noted that the scope of services rendered to the clients by the branch offices considerably grew, in particular defense of the regional clients IP rights in courts and administrative bodies. The best results in 2007 were shown by the Nizhny Novgorod and Samara branches.
