Starting from 1st June 2004 foodstuffs suppliers are bound to indicate presence of genetically modified ingredi-ents (GMI), if the share thereof exceeds 0, 9%. Before that not so stringent standard existed – 5%. Moreover, in Russia a single standard method of testing foodstuffs for GMI content is being enforced, this method is based on a biological microchip use.
