According to “Milor” information agency (Russia) in 2004 the volume of lacquer and paint material sales (LKM) in Russia amounted to about USD1 billion. The domestic production covers only 67% of the local demand. The deficit in lacquer and paint materials is compensated on account of the imports from Finland (48%), Germany (9%), Poland (6%), Republic of Korea (6%), USA (4%) and other foreign suppliers. Substantial reliance on LKM imports is expected to stay for about 5 years ahead, since the domestic industry cannot keep pace with high rates of local demands in lacquer and paint (9-12% annually).
