Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission approved the Draft Treaty on the Eurasian Trademarks, Service Marks and Appellations of Origin on the territories of Member-States of the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space

On May 16, 2013, the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission approved the Draft Treaty on the Eurasian Trademarks, Service Marks and Appellations of Origin on the territories of Member-States of the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space and asked the Member-Sates — Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan — to carry out, by August 1, 2013, the internal procedures required for the signing of the Treaty. After the internal procedures have carried out, the Draft Treaty will be considered by the Council again.

The Draft Treaty provides for that an application for the trademark of the Common Eurasian Space (CES trademark) could be filed with a national Patent Office of any Contracting State and the CES trademark registration will be valid in all these States.
