Genetically modified cereals have been allowed to grow
10 December 2013The Russian government issued a Decree allowing to sow genetically modified cereals. Permission becomes valid from July 1, 2014. Now genetically modified cereals are allowed to be grown on the experimental plots of land only. The use of the genetically modified cereals will be popular with the producers of agricultural products because it cuts down the cost of the final product by as much as 20%.
It is expected that following enactment of the Decree genetically modified plant varieties may become patentable in Russia next year.
