Legal Advanced Studies “Intellectual Property Laws: New Version Of Part Iv Of Russian Civil Code, Court Practice And Hot Legal Issues” (M-Logos)
27 October 2017Sergey Medvedev, PhD, LLM, Senior Lawyer (Gorodissky & Partners, Moscow) spoke on “IP Transactions: Practical Aspects of Conclusion and Registration – Main Problems, Typical Mistakes” at the legal advanced studies seminar “Intellectual Property Laws: New Version of Part IV of Russian Civil Code, Court Practice and Hot Legal Issues” organized by the Law Institute “M-Logos” for lawyers and counsels practicing intellectual property law.
The speaker highlighted the main problems concerning the disposal of exclusive rights to different IP subject matters and outlined typical mistakes related to registration of respective transactions in the RUPTO. The presentation was supported by numerous cases from the court practice, including those from Sergey’s own practice. A special attention was paid by Medvedev to various non-standard issues in terms of drafting, conclusion and terminating IP agreements, including assignments, licenses, franchises, security interests and trust management. The lecture brought together more than 30 lawyers and counsels from various business sectors, such as IT, media, banking, oil & gas.
