On April 3, 2017, President Vladimir Putin signed the law on ratification of the Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Industrial Designs. It took Russia 18 years to come to adoption of this international agreement concluded at a Diplomatic Conference in Geneva in 1999.

The Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO) continuously transits to paperless documentation management technologies and another milestone on this way is introducing a new Procedure for Preparing for the Grant of a Eurasian Patent Certificate and Supplementary Documents that has been recently approved by the EAPO Order No. 7 of February 20, 2017. According to this new procedure starting from January 1, 2018 the Eurasian Letters Patent will contain only official form signed by EAPO President, but without printed specification of invention, claims, drawings and abstract which can be downloaded from the EAPO web-site.
