Conference “Current Challenges in Intellectual Property Law”, Ekaterinburg

Ekaterinburg hosted a successful conference “Current Challenges in Intellectual Property Law” dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the of Gorodissky & Partners branch in Ekaterinburg.

The conference brought together representatives of leading legal, commercial & industrial companies to discuss the practical issues of intellectual property protection.

A welcome address to the conference participants was delivered by Alexey Shmykov, Vice-Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region and Minister of Industry and Science.

The event was opened by Valery Medvedev, Chairman of the Partnership (Gorodissky & Partners, Moscow). He spoke about the importance of innovation activities and intellectual property protection in the modern economic model.

At the anniversary conference, participants discussed current issues of legal protection of intellectual property:

• Service-related IP results: legal and practical recommendations;
• How not to miss an opportunity to obtain a patent abroad;
• Visual identity of products: patent protection for designs;
• Current requirements for inclusion in the Russian software register: what has changed and how to adapt;
• Tax incentives and specifics of taxation in the field of intellectual property.

As part of the conference, a round table "Trademarks – What kind of asset are we acquiring when we register them?" was held.
